What I'm Listening To

So I went shopping the other day, and among the clothing items I bought, I took part in HMV's 2 for $20 sale and bought a Passenger CD and an Arkells CD.

Arkells is a Canadian band (that right there is a selling point for me!) that has a really nice sound. Alternative rock, I'm thinking, is the genre you'd stick 'em in. One of my favourite songs on the album is Book Club, I recommend you look it up!

I also bought Passenger's new (ish) CD, which is absolutely lovely so far. For me, he's like Ed Sheeran - just so soothing, and such a pleasant, gentle sound. I'd totally recommend the CD, it's beautiful.

So that's what's on repeat for me right now! Any recommendations for new music?

SUMMERTIME-

-FINALLY.

DOBBY IS A FREE ELF.

All I have to do now is my English 12 provincial exam tomorrow, and then I am officially done. It feels good, man, it feels good.

I am sad, though, about the idea of leaving so many people - you know, the idea that I'm not going to see the majority of my classmates in the years to come. It would be lovely to stay in touch with people, but I know that that usually doesn't happen... I suppose I'll just have to try hard to keep in touch!

I'm sorry, I don't have a ton to say today! I am going shopping on Friday, hopefully things will get interesting then. But for now, just this awkward filler post. My apologies!

I hope you are all having lovely weeks!

Grad Banquet

Yesterday was my Grad Banquet.

I spent the morning getting ready - hair, makeup - then we all met for photos.

Peacock feather earrings

and peacock feather SHOES

We took SO many pictures with so many of my friends! It was an amazing day - the weather was lovely, and I had a lot of fun dressing up and taking pictures with everyone :)

"Let us dance in the sun...

... wearing wild flowers in our hair." -Susan Polis Schutz

I do like that quote! I don't have a whole lot to say today, but I did take a break from the craziness of my last week of school to take a few pictures of some of the gorgeous flowers in our garden. Enjoy!

I know I said flowers, but come on. Look at that face!
Not 100% sure what these are. Crocuses?

Clematis!
Pansies - one of my favourites flowers!
FANTASTIC lavender hybrid type things. They look a little like pineapples, don't they?!
Lastly, my forever elegant (and slightly insane) cat, Charlie

I hope you enjoyed that small tour through our small but lovely garden! A lot of the time it's pretty tired-looking, but when it's in bloom, it's gorgeous. What are some of your favourite plants or flowers?

Toenails: Essie's Tart Deco

Hello hello! We are finally getting some lovely summer weather here, and it looks as if it'll be sticking around!

And now that I can bear my toes without fear of frostbite, I thought, hey, why not make them look good? So I swiped off my two-week-old, chipped pedi, gave the toenails a bit of a clean-up, and decided to slap on some of my new Essie nail polish. And here we go.

Tart Deco from Essie
On the toes!

I really love Essie nail polishes, they come in such fun colours! This one feels especially summery - it may be difficult to see the exact shade from the pictures, but it is a really lovely peachy colour. I also find that Essie nail polishes are quite smooth and go on really well. I'll definitely be using this colour lots this summer.

Are there any nail polish colours you're loving this summer?

May Favourites

On a happier note! Favourites! Let's do this!

    1. Covergirl's liquid eyeliner. Extremely easy to use, especially for a cat-eye! I have it in a dark shimmery gray, and I'm seriously considering getting a black as well. These are a lot less runny than the usual liquid eyeliner you find - it has an almost pen-like quality that makes applying super easy!

    2. Aveeno's Leave-In Conditioner. I've been looking around for a good leave-in conditioner ever since Live Clean discontinued their's (sad face) and experimented with this one! It isn't heavy enough for a true leave-in, especially on my wild hair, but is really good for taming second-day hair. It's isn't a cream, it's a spray, but has a nice smell and doesn't have any harmful chemicals. I recommend it!

    3. Almay's Liquid Foundation. I think I've mentioned this before, actually! I'm going to bring it up again, it's that awesome. It blends really well, covers everything that needs to be hidden, and, in general, just does an awesome job at keeping my skin looking good.

    4. WALK THE MOON. If you read that last post, the one in which I ranted unecessarily, you'd have seen a mention of these guys. Basically, they are one of my favourite bands right now. If you're into indie rock/alternative/awesomeness, you'll like them. If you want somewhere to start, check out the song Next In Line. Perfect summer song, I swear.

    5. Star Trek: Into Darkness. I'm going all over the place with this post, my apologies! But if I had to choose a favourite movie in May, it would be this one. I keep trying to get people to go with me again, but no one will! Gah!

So those are my May favourites, from makeup to hair products to movies and music! I hope you enjoyed this post, thank you so much for reading :)

What are some of your May favourites?

    Life Throwing Lemons

I'm being a bit dramatic. It's not really like life is throwing lemons at me, it's more like life is timing me while I  frantically juice as many lemons as I can. In other words, I'm stressed.

It's not really even that... it's just been one of those weeks when each little thing that goes wrong bugs me way more than it should. Which is silly, because a lot of awesome things have happened this week, but I'm so caught up on the bad that my brain isn't letting me appreciate them. Bah.

It is nearing the end of my grade twelve year, and while that is awesome, it's also draining me in a way I've never experienced before. I just want it all to be over, in all honesty, and move on to the next step of my life. I'm beginning to feel incredibly indifferent towards everything - schoolwork, going to the gym, end of year activities - that I would be alarmed if I wasn't so darn apathetic. I need to get out of this rut, and fast.

Also, there's this concert happening in October that I desperately want to go to - WALK THE MOON, check them out, they are amazing. They're playing in the city I am incidentally going to university in next year, which is super fantastic, but I'd still need to figure out transportation and finding people to go with and such. And since it's pretty close to the beginning of the year, I'll probably still be getting my university legs on and it might be tricky to swing it.

But I'm determined, people. I'm going to try my hardest to make it work!

So that sums up my week - feeling stressed from school, sad about not being able to go to a concert, and then stubbornly determined to go to it anyway.

I'll try to write a post that's a bit less... ah... irritated next time.
