Being a geek...

... is awesome. I'm not going to lie.

I mean, what do people think about? People who aren't in fandoms or crazily obsessed about something? Do they think about real life?

Silly.

Anyway, there was a reason I brought being a nerd up in the first place. And that reason is...

COMICON!!! ! ! !

Tomorrow! I am leaving!!! FOR COMICON!

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

I am seriously so excited - there'll be special guests there like Patrick Stewart, Misha Collins, Danai Gurira, Natalia Tena... I WILL BE BREATHING THE SAME AIR AS THESE PEOPLE.

Phew. I should probably calm down a little. But really, I'm SO EXCITED.

So I won't be posting over the weekend (I'll be busy flailing and fainting and fangirling), so have a good one! Byeee!

On another note, one of my LBD otps just became the real deal. Another reason to love being a fan of something!

Live Clean Review

I've tried out this product - Live Clean's Argan Oil Smooth & Shine Cream - and here are some of my thoughts!

I got this product quite by accident, actually! I have Live Clean leave-in conditioner and love it, and am running a bit low. I asked my mum to pick me up some and she brought this back for me, so instead of make a fuss I decided to give it a go!

First of all, it smells amazing. Coconut, almost. I actually am not 100% sure what the smell is but it is a lovely one.

The texture, as well, is really nice. It's super smooth and light, and doesn't leave any residue or anything behind. I found it left my curls softer and less frizzy. I've only used it to touch up single curls or small chunks of curls, and it's worked really well that way. I did find, though, that you need a pretty decent amount of it for it to do anything noticeable to your hair. Maybe that's just me and my stubborn hair, though! I may experiment a bit more with it, but I'm liking what it does!

I also love the environmentally friendly part of it, and along with that, how it has, like, zero bad ingredients in it. The packaging is even recyclable!

Overall, an awesome product! I'd definitely recommend this for curly haired people to try out, and I'd even guess it would work in other hair types as well! Give it a try!

My February Wishlist

With the end of the month comes a handful of things I've been eyeing... unfortunately, I'm pretty broke, so I'd better start saving!

First of all, this OPI "Dutch' Ya Just Love OPI?" I personally LOVE OPI nail polish and don't nearly have enough. And plus I absolutely love this colour!

Secondly, Revlon's Just Bitten Lipstain! A friend of mine has this, see Huyen, and I really want to give it a go.

Thiiirdly, this Lotty Petal Dress by Anthropologie :) isn't it so cute?! Actually, I could basically say anything from Anthropologie, I love all of their stuff!

Fourthly (is that a word?) Covergirl Eye Enhancers! Back to makeup! I already have a quad, similar to this one, and it's super nice - goes on really well and stays on! I'm definitely wanting to get another set. Maybe I'll branch out and get wilder colours. Who knows?

And lastly, MAC eyeshadow. I've been wanting one of these for soooo looooong, but still haven't gotten around to buying one! There are just so many amazing colours in these, and I think it would be difficult to decide on just one. Maybe I'll save up and go on a MAC spree one day :)

And there is my wishlist! For now! I really do need to refresh my makeup selection, so who knows, maybe some of these will become a reality. But for now, I'll keep dreaming!

OSCARS 2013

Okay, I don't know about you guys, but I absolutely love watching the Academy Awards.

I don't know what it is that I love the most. Maybe it's seeing all those gorgeous dresses on the red carpet. Or watching the amazing opening. Or just all the glamour, humour, and wonderfulness in general. I don't know. But I do know that this year definitely did not disappoint.

Here is a few of my favourite dresses:

First, Jessica Chastain. She is just so elegant and her dress was gorgeous. Apparently her skin is so good that she doesn't even wear foundation to these things. If only I could say the same... sigh.
This colour is just SO GORGEOUS. And Jennifer Garner is adorable, oh my goodness. I was watching a red carpet interview with her and she was just so cute and her dress was so pretty and ugh so perfect!

Amy Adams' dress. HER DRESS. LOOK AT IT. So pretty. It reminded me a little of Emma Watson's at the DH pt 2 premier in London.

But seriously, basically everyone there looked UH-MAZING. Just a few of my personal favourites on a looong list of favourites!

I was a bit nervous about Seth Macfarlane hosting... probably because I've never really seen much of his stuff (that includes Family Guy... I am completely missing out, I've heard. Sorry guys) so I didn't really know what to expect. He came on and started basically just telling jokes, and I was like, oh geez. What is happening. Then BAM, Star Trek. And things became swiftly and beautifully awesome. Seth Macfarlane nailed it.

I was just swept into this fantastic array of stupidly talented stars all doing things like dancing way to well for someone who's famous enough already, singing like complete pros, and all in all making me feel way less skilled in everything I do.

And Daniel Radcliffe likes poutine. As a Canadian, my love for him increased by a substantial amount. IF possible. I mean, I loved him a ridiculous amount already.

This year, I hadn't seen a ton of the movies nominated... Out of all the nominees for best picture, I'd only seen Les Mis (and on that note, the Les Mis cast sang AND IT WAS SO BEAUTIFUL, I THINK I TEARED UP A BIT). And I was SO happy when Anne Hathaway won for best supporting actress, she did so amazingly well in Les Mis!

I have so much more to say but for now, I'll refrain - this is getting lengthy enough as it is! In conclusion, the oscars were incredible, as they usually are :) I always want to go to one of these awards shows but I feel like if I did, I'd vomit and/or cry and/or flail all over all these famous people that I want to make a good impression on that it would just be no good. So it's probably best if I stick to watching them in my living room.

Cookieessss!

So, I made COOKIES yesterday! Yay! What fun!

I made these cookies from Fine Cooking - Black and White Crescents. They're basically chocolate cookies with white chocolate stripes. Very delicious. Though I will admit that mine didn't look nearly as perfect as theirs do.

A really nice thing about this recipe is that none of the ingredients are exotic or anything like that; I tend to back away from recipes that call for really wild things like self-raising flour or castor sugar or dragon blood, etc. This is probably because I have never used them before and get a bit nervous at the idea. It's also probably because I'm too lazy to go hunt for them in the grocery store.

Basically, this recipe was really easy and simple to follow, and the cookies I made, though pretty ugly, didn't taste half-bad. I'd venture to say they tasted good.

Here they are just after coming out of the oven. Like I said, not exactly the prettiest things you've ever seen. But yummy nonetheless.

The white chocolate drizzled over top may have been, in my opinion, the best part. Just pure melted white chocolate. Yes.
The white chocolate helped make them look a little bit better.

Anyway, those are my cookies! I suppose next time I make them I can try and make them a bit easier on the eyes. But I DO recommend making them if you like chocolate and/or cookies, because they tasted FANTASTIC.

Of video blogs, candles, and pumpkin pancakes

HELLOOOO THERE.

Too intense? Should I tone it down a little? Still working on this whole "blogging" thing. My apologies.

I just got back from filming a super-awesome-semi-awkward-yet-still-utterly-fantastic video with my buddy HUYEN! (see nofact-nofame.blogspot.ca for amazingness)! We decided to start a joint youtube account in which we'd make videos involving beauty products, hauls, and various other things. First filming period took place just an hour ago (mark this down on your calenders, people, for it is a historical event) and it was much fun! It's a little bit odd, how much I enjoyed talking to a camera! Anyways, I'll make sure to link the video once it's posted.

And now onto part two of this post: CANDLES. I've recently realized I have a thing for candles. Apparently I can't go without buying them if I see them in the store. Seriously. Like, I don't even burn candles that often, but I just keep getting more. I have a problem. But candle buying addictions aside, here are some of my favouritessssss:

I particularly like the scent of this one - I'm not quite sure what exactly the smell is but it's super fresh. Plus, it's a soy candle which is apparently better for you.

And secondly, there's this one. I haven't burnt it yet but it smells SO GOOD. Like, berries and forest and just general loveliness.

And the packaging is adorable, I love the jar.

I LOVE CANDLES.

Anyway, that was my day, basically, besides school and work. Video making. Candles. All the good stuff, right? And now I'm about to have a dinner of pasta (ONE OF MY FAVOURITES, YAY) with my family. All is well.

And I hear talk of a possible pumpkin pancake breakfast on the weekend.

That makes everything about ten times more awesome.

Wednesday 20 February 2013

Well, this is it.

The beginning. Post number one. The start of my blogging career.

I use the word "career" hesitantly. In all honesty, I have no idea what to say.

Well. Off to a good start.

I'm sitting here drinking tea out of my favourite mug, and all is well. For now, I guess - everything is uncertain and all that. I'm supposed to read a little section of The Canterbury Tales for school, but that isn't much of a chore. It's a lovely piece of literature, it really is!

Anyway, back to the topic (if there ever was one). First post. We're off to a semi-good start here. Right? We're good? Okay.

I'm realizing now how incredibly unorganized I was about this; I never really thought about what I was making this blog FOR. Will it be personal? Instructional? Comedic? Who knows. Not me, that's for sure.

What I CAN tell you is that I will try to make it as interesting as possible. Maybe there'll be some DIY's. Perhaps some book reviews. Movies I've seen. To-do lists. There'll be a variety, I can tell you that.

I really hope you enjoy this. And that you have a lovely day, wherever you are.
